As I mentioned in my first piece about Disney World hotels, I have a favorite Disney World Resort-Port Orleans French Quarter. Actually, both members of the Port Orleans complex are my favorites. However, Port Orleans French Quarter POFQ has won me over recently, for a few reasons. It only has one bus stop, which is nice. When you stay at Port Orleans Riverside(POR), there are a few bus stops, and waiting to stop at each one can be deadly. Also, Port Orleans French Quarter has beniets. That said, I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (well, two times it was Dixie Landings) my first four trips to Disney World, so it’s got a soft spot in my heart.
In my book, either resort is a good value for your dollar. You get the Moderate amenities, such as a free refrigerator in your room.* You also have an easy boat ride to Downtown Disney. To me, nothing says “home” like cruising along the Sassagoula River on your way to Downtown Disney, seeing the treehouses.
I also discovered a hidden gem of the Port Orleans Resort on my last trip-Bob Jackson, aka Yeeha Bob. His show was free, laugh out loud hilarious, and family friendly. I plan on going to see him every trip.
How about you? What’s your favorite resort?
*Do not make the mistake of thinking that refrigerators are only for families. I love mine to keep water in, as well as the odd treat from Goofy’s Candy Company.

I love Dixie Landings, though I’ve only stayed there once so far. It’s got a great, laid-back feel, and the ambiance is a refreshing treat. I love the excitement I get staying at some of the more “active” properties, but every once in awhile, you just want to kick back and relax. I also have not yet had the pleasure of staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but when we ate there for dinner, we were amazed and cannot wait for the chance.

AKL is cool, isn’t it? It just feels so far from everything.
