Universal Orlando for Disney fans-Meet Marvel Island

This entry is part 7 of 12 in the series UOforWDWfans

As the opening of Harry Potterland at Islands of Adventure looms only a tad over a month away, I’m going to be posting more information on Universal Orlando. Today we are going to visit and compare Marvel Super Hero Island in the Islands of Adventure theme park. DIStickers.com Ticker I figured this was only fitting as a Marvel area will soon be opening a section in the Magic Kingdom*.  I wanted to start with this island for a few reasons:  firstly, it’s on your left as you leave the Port of Entry-so if you decide to take the long way to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you’ll past it.  Secondly, it’s pretty vividly themed.  Third, it has attractions that are good for all ages.

I should probably begin this post with a massive caveat-I have not been on The Hulk or Dr Dooms Fearfall.  However, there are other good attractions on the Island.  Storm Force Accelatron is pretty much a “teacups” type ride.  It is under a canopy, which is nice.

And, now I must say something which will probably astound you ad cost me a few readers:  The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman is the best ride in Orlando.  Sorry, but it’s true.  Take the 3-D awesomeness of Toy Story Midway Mania.  Add a really cool dark ride that’s 3-D, but also has awesome set pieces.  Add in some fire and water effects, and a drop (real or not?).  It’s pure fun, although I will confess to wearing my earplugs on it.

*This is a joke, obviously.  Or is it, given that there is Marvel merchandise at D-Street?
