Magical Blogorail Green: Most Missed Attractions

Welcome to those of you joining me from A Disney Mom’s Thoughts and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail.

For my most missed attraction, I chose that Tomorrowland classic, Delta Dreamflight! I have to point out that this favorite is something that pegs me as being a “young adult” Disney fan-many of you might remember its predecessor, If You Had Wings, However, I never saw that version.

I loved Dreamflight! I am a big fan of travel and flying (looking back on it, I loved it on my first trip in 1993, when I had been on an airplane once-to get to WDW). I loved being able to ride through all the places of the world-seeing the people in France or Japan.

On my first trip, I really liked the orderly-ness of the conveyor belt rides, so I was find of it for that reason. I was also a big fan of Delta in 1996-both because our trip was through them and because this was back in the day when Delta had child-specific materials and I got a regular magazine from Delta.

In a way, I feel like the whole Delta sponsored thing was kind of a relic, both in terms of Delta having the dough to sponsor an attraction, and an attraction being so heavy-handedly advertising. Can you imagine the internet uproar if Southwest opened such a ride today?

However, all good things must come to an end, and by my trip in 2002, I found that Buzz Lightyear had replaced my dream flight. I love Buzz, but sometimes I wish I could re-live the days of flying through the world no TSA screening required.

Magical Blogorail: My Favorite Park at Disney World

Welcome to those of you joining me from Running Towards Disney or those of you who have just hopped aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail. Today’s topic is our favorite Disney park.

For me, this is an easy answer-the Magic Kingdom is my favorite park. Why? Well, let’s start with the basics-Splash Mountain, my favorite ride, is located there. Columbia Harbor House is also located there. But there are plenty of things I love at other parks, so why the Magic Kingdom?

To be honest-I think part of it is its tradition-it’s still much the same as it was. I can walk from the bus stop to the gates and mentally relive the first time I did it, feeling in awe that I am actually at Disney World. Also, I love the theatrics of the Magic Kingdom-it is set up like a movie theatre. I love how you have to enter the Magic Kingdom to see the castle.
This plaque may be from Disneyland, but I think it suns up the wonder of the Magic Kingdom well. You can go from soaring over London with Peter Pan to seeing the American Presidents to going on a jungle cruise.

Not Just for Kids: The Main St Barber Shop

Hedy with colored gel and glitter

I kind of want to do the Bippity Boppity Boutique. However, I’ve never seen a red hair extension thingy, and it’s not cheap. I decided I wanted to live a little on my trip to WDW, so I decided to try the Harmony Barbershop‘s gel and glitter. The harmony barber shop is a real barber shop. I stood in line with parents who were waiting for their kid’s first haircut. I was called-I asked for the gel and glitter. I chose pink gel (they use the Beyond the Zone stuff from Sally’s). The barberess combed the gel into my hair, then sprinkled the gitter on it. It was fun getting it done, and I got some smiles and comments-an easy way to literally add pixie dust to my trip. I’d definitely do it again-it was only $7.50. The glitter did not rain over my bed as much as I thought, although I did have to wash twice to get all the pink out.
