Yepp, on Sunday, April 22, 2012, Earth Day will be 42! Animal Kingdom will 14! Two years ago, I posted a piece on Disney’s environmental practices. Have things changed?
Happily, Walt Disney Roanoke seems to be changing. The Art of Animation resort opening next month will put an end to the Legendary years creepy-ville. River Country appears to be finally becoming DVC. Discovery Island is still creepy; who knows if it will just become overgrown or be revived.
Disney and the environment’s official arm the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF). The DWCF turns fifteen this Earth Day. Even if you have not heard of them, you most likely have seen the ubiquitous buttons around Disney World. An impressive and diverse number of projects are funded by the DWCF every year. Additionally, DisneyNature continues to put out gushy nature movies like African Cats . This uear’s contribution is Chimpanzee, which raises money for the Jane Goodall Institute for the Disneynature Tchimpounga Nature Reserve Project
On Earth Day, pick up your FREE Reusable Bag from the Disney Store when you bring in 5 plastic shopping bags on 4/22 to be recycled (Thanks, Saving Everyday!)

Great Bag and it will also contribute plastic bags for recycling!
